Eden Academy Bardon is a boutique, 64-place early learning centre, located in the heart of the leafy suburb of Bardon in Brisbane. The site was challenging due to its complex and undulating form, which required careful consideration throughout the design development of the two-storey centre and its associated undercroft carpark.
Given its unique location and traditional character surroundings, it was imperative that the design celebrated the iconic Queenslander vernacular. In doing so; weatherboards, gable-end roofs, valance battens, white picket fences and vertical joint (VJ) boards were all adopted, building a relationship with its fellow neighbourhood. A number of existing native Eucalypt trees were also retained throughout the site, which complimented the client’s nature-based learning environment, promoting the children’s connectedness with nature.
Elevation Architecture worked closely with the client and builder throughout the design development and construction of this project, ensuring we delivered a thoughtful, yet cost-effective early learning centre.
